F1: HRT not to run Cosmic Colors Theme in 2012

The new management of Hispania Racing F1 decided to not carry its 2011 color styling into the 2012 season.
Simon: "Last year was the season when its striking and provocative red-white look propelled the young back marker team instantly into the spotlight of world-wide media and into the hearts of its crew and fans. I am thankful for this opportunity. I wish the new management all the best for the future."

COSMIC MOTORS: F1 Helmet

F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi wore a one-off helmet designed by Daniel Simon during the F1 GP in Germany. Most drivers have an recurring pattern or theme for their helmets throughout their career, so does Tonio. My motivation for this one was to blend it into the car styling as much as possible while not breaking with Tonio's helmet traditions, and contrast the red with a special blue visor by Bell.

COSMIC MOTORS: F1 Grand Prix Barcelona

I arrived at the F1 track of Barcelona just in time to enjoy a weekend of screaming engine sounds and sports with the Hispania Racing team. The car looks great in person and reads well on the track, a sight I had for the first time now, since I designed the racer's graphic purely digitally.

FORMULA 1: HRT F111 with Cosmic Motors livery released

Although Daniel Simon and his label Cosmic Motor live mostly in the future, he also has a strong passion for motor racings bold iconic liveries from the past, and he has drawn inspiration of them in creating Hispania Racing´s new livery. Daniel says: "I miss fearless visual statements and large beautiful numbers on today´s racing cars." And: "Playing with the restrictions of what

you can do to a complex F1 body is fun. There are many don´ts, but I found a way to lay courageous racing essence on the car."

Team principal Colin Kolles: "Daniel has created a wonderfully confident look for our new car which really

captures the effort the whole team has put into developing the F111. The car design and the graphic design perfectly complement one another and mark the real beginnings of our ambitions."

COSMIC MOTORS: U.K. release

I am happy to announce that Titan Books, a major U.K. publishing house for books and comics like Akira, Batman, Star Wars, James Bond and many others, just released Cosmic Motors. It is the same content and look (just an additional Titan Books logo here and there) and will improve the availability in Europe.

We are happy to announce that the third print edition of COSMIC MOTORS paperbacks arrived at Design Studio Press and book stores worldwide. The unchanged book content was printed with a brand new process - called sublima - resulting in an even better image quality. The mighty hardcover version is currently sold out.

BERLIN: PHOTO SHOOT OF NEW CREW MEMBERS

Cosmic Motors is honored to present two new crew members: "Adean", our new dont-mess-with-me pit crew supervisor, and "Alupa Ace", promising speed-uberfrau with a TX 1000 race license.
The shoot in Germany's fun metropolis Berlin was a delight, and I thank my wonderful two model friends. Philip, assistant on set, thanx for doing the dirty work of carrying helmets and holding flash lights.

TOKYO: BACK IN TOWN

I am back in Tokyo for the final presentation of a consultancy project. At a rare free moment I found myself with my Japanese producer in a Tsutaya bookstore in Tokyo, a sophisticated supplier of art and design books. Supported by Born Digital Inc. they arranged a Cosmic Motors promo shelve. Thanx, also to Rintaro-san from Tsutaya! So cool.

I am back on my drawing board soon.

TOKYO: THANK YOU

Thank you for the overwhelming interest in the presentation and book signing. I was flattered by an audience of about 300 viewers from various Japanese industries such as Honda, Sony, Canon, Bandai, Sega or Sanyo and design schools.
Also, a huge "arigatô-gozai-mashita" to the team of Born Digital Inc., Autodesk Japan and my japanese producer for creating a trouble-free event.

SAN FRANCISCO: SPEAKING AT IDSA CONFERENCE

Autodesk invited me as a speaker to the yearly International Design Conference IDSA Connecting 2007 in San Francisco.

Between the events I took the chance and thundered south to Laguna Seca Raceway to follow the qualification run of the LeMans Series. Damn, that noise!!! Tasty. I just made it back in time to San Francisco.
